Considering WGS?

We are thrilled that you are looking at our wonderful school which we are all extremely proud of. Wolverhampton Grammar School or WGS as it is affectionately known, is renowned for its friendly, warm and inclusive environment and we recommend that you book a tour or visit us on an Open Day to get a real sense of school life.

Whether you are looking for your child’s first ever school as they approach their 4th birthday or considering us for GSCE or even Sixth Form, the staff and students will be keen to share their experiences with you.

You may or may not have been privately schooled yourself? Are you wondering about the benefits of attending a fee-paying school? We hope that our academic results, first-class facilities, outstanding teaching, exceptional pastoral care and region-leading extra-curricular provision will all speak for itself as you look around. We are fortunate that our former pupils, known as Old Wulfrunians or OWs, visit us frequently to share their experiences with prospective families. We look forward to connecting you.

You can make a quick enquiry using the form below or alternatively if you are ready to register and pay our registration fee of £50 online, please visit our Apply Now page. Please speak to Admissions before registering if you are looking for entry to our Infant classes in the Junior School as we do have a waiting list. They can advise you regarding availability.

Availability

We welcome children from the age of 4 into our Reception class but we advise you to register early as places are in high demand.

We have limited places available for an immediate start into Years 3 to 6 in the Junior School and in most years of the Senior School. If you are looking for an immediate start into Year 10 or Year 12 we will need to look at subject options and timetabling. The 2024-2025 admissions cycle is underway so you can apply now for a place in September 2025 and we will be in touch to arrange your child’s assessment.
