Extra Curricular

Founded in 1512, Wolverhampton Grammar School is an award-winning independent day school, for boys and girls ages 4 to 18.

Learning shouldn’t be confined to a classroom. Venturing outside to explore the natural world is a great way for children to grow in confidence and to learn new life skills. At School, there are lots of opportunities to do just that, including clubs, societies, sports activities and residentials.

Wolverhampton Grammar Junior School offers the largest range of extra and co-curricular activities on offer for children of all year groups. From Lego Club, Judo, Chess Club to Gardening – there is something for everyone to try.

Children can also choose to stay for a supervised Homework Club or Late Club providing an opportunity for children to talk through any areas of work with a member of staff, complete homework or even just wind down from a busy day.

Current students and parents can also find club calendars on the Firefly student and parent portals. All the School clubs listed are available before school, lunchtime or after school.

Take the Residential Challenge

All children in the Years 2 to 6 have an annual opportunity to have a residential stay at a range of the very best outdoor and historical locations. Our overnight trips start from as young as Year 2. Residential stays allow children to develop greater independence and confidence.

For many, a residential trip may be the first time a child has been away from home and we work closely with parents to ensure this is a positive and fun experience.

Children in Years 2 and 3 take a walk on the wild side enjoying a residential stay at Laches Wood in Staffordshire. Children spend one and two nights, respectively, in the log cabins and dormitory accommodation.

Children in Years 4 and 5 spend two nights exploring local historical attractions at Blackwell Court, near Bromsgrove as well as enjoying outward bound opportunities on site.

Year 6 students spend a whole week in Arthog, Wales. Children take part in a range of outdoor activities whilst developing teamwork skills and providing an opportunity for self-discovery.
