A school with over 500 years of experience ensures your child is in safe hands.

Welcome to Infants!

In September 2021 our Junior School expanded to welcome children into Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, thus fulfilling our aspiration to offer a full through-school experience for boys and girls from ages 4 to 18 years.

Our Infant provision can be found at the heart of our successful Junior School. With small class sizes, a teacher and teaching assistant per class, remodelled indoor facilities, and immediate access to our purpose-built infant playground, everything is built on our already well-established Junior School model.

Ahead of your child starting school there are several opportunities to visit WGJS and meet the teachers - open days, assessment days and a ‘stay and play’ session during the summer, mean that our Reception teacher, is already very familiar with your child’s needs and interests ahead of the start of the academic year.

Phonics, literacy and mathematics make up the bulk of the daily timetable, with plenty of room for topic, sport, swimming, art, music and German throughout the week. On top of this, Year 1 and Year 2 will have IT and RE lessons. Of course, learning shouldn’t be confined to just the classroom. Venturing outside to explore the natural world is the perfect way for children to grow in confidence and to learn new life skills. With lots of combined activities, events, and even assemblies, your Infant child will soon feel part of our very special Junior School community.
