Sixth Form

“Working in the Sixth Form affords me the opportunity to have a positive impact on students at one of the most pivotal times of their development.”

Rhi Clancy, Head of Sixth Form

Studying and socialising in a bespoke environment

Wolverhampton Grammar School Sixth Form is the pinnacle of our students’ time with us. Some will have started in the Juniors, some in the Seniors, but in their final two years, as young adults, our Sixth Formers will enjoy studying and socialising in their own bespoke Sixth Form Centre.

This brings with it greater independence, support from their House tutors, the advantages of small teaching groups, and the opportunity to take on leadership roles and volunteer for extra activities that will build on life skills, as well as enhance personal statements for UCAS applications too.

This stepping stone to university life, apprenticeships or future employment ensures that, whilst continuing with the House system and the vast range of extra-curricular activities, students can expect to enjoy greater responsibilities and freedoms that reflect their maturity and position within the School.

It is a perfect opportunity to welcome new students and indeed many do join us at Sixth Form to experience life at WGS. We offer a wide range of subjects to choose from and the very best support and advice to ensure students make the right choices for their future.

A fantastic track record of sending students out into the world with high academic achievement and confidence.

Sixth Form life

Sixth Form is not all about study! Students are involved in many clubs and subject based societies including Graphic Design, Digital Leaders, Magic Club, Table-Top Gaming, Student Parliament and many more.

Lunchtime Pudding lectures are another tenet of Sixth Form life and give students the opportunity to present and take questions on a variety of topics beyond their Sixth Form studies.  Aptly named, there is always cake served for those attending and presenting!

There are also opportunities to step up into Prefect leadership roles such as House Captains and Heads of School. Within the House system Sixth Formers act as mentors to younger students and take part in charity fundraising and community activities. Sport, Music, volunteering and the Duke of Edinburgh Award are all accessible to our Sixth Formers. We also have our own student-run newspaper – The Wulf, and students have input into organising events such as the Leavers’ Ball.
