Extra Curricular

Founded in 1512, Wolverhampton Grammar School is an award-winning independent day school, for boys and girls ages 4 to 18.

“I had great experiences and encouragement at WGS to pursue a career in theatre and performance. Being involved in the School’s drama productions was a great grounding for later professional training."
JASON BATTERSBY (OW 2018)

Extra & Co-Curricular

Providing an exciting and fulfilling life outside of the classroom is key to a child’s physical, mental and social wellbeing, and is something we pride ourselves on offering at Wolverhampton Grammar School. We offer the largest range of extra and co-curricular activities, clubs, societies, trips, international expeditions and sport tours of any Independent School in the area.

With over 100 Extra and Co-curricular activities, societies, clubs, academic workshops, trips and expeditions and sport tours, there really is something to suit all abilities and interests. Students can also be responsible for setting up their own clubs or societies at any time. The range of activities on offer is extremely diverse, with the likes of Politics Club, Climbing Club, Coding Club to even a Harry Potter Fan Club, the list is endless!

Our students can also hold exhibitions in our purpose-built Viner Gallery and even perform their productions in our industry standard Hutton Theatre.

Our students can also take part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (Bronze, Silver and Gold levels); Coast 2 Coast Charity Run; guest speakers during assemblies, as well as Art Lectures every month in the Senior School; Medical Society Guest lectures throughout the year at lunchtimes for Year 11 and Sixth Form; and opportunities to get involved at School Open Days and Discovery Days.

Trips and Sports Tours

A vast programme of Trips and Sports Tours both home and away are offered to students in the Senior School and run during the School Holidays. A large proportion of students in Years 7 to Upper Sixth participated in organised trips over the last academic year.
